Police investigate shots fired, aggravated assault

The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating two incidents where shots were fired into a home and one where a man was shot.

All three shootings were reported in the space of about 30 minutes Friday night. 

Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about these incidents to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving these crimes or any other felony in the community.

Robert Fava Jr.

Robert Fava, Jr., 82, was born on April 14, 1938 and went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 18, 2020 at his home in Alligator.  He was the owner and operator of Mary Ann’s Variety Store and Fava Brothers Grocery in Alligator for over 50 years.  Graveside services are 10 a.m.



Johnson, Street named CCC athletes of week

Coahoma Community College Football braved out a tough 30-21 loss to Itawamba Community College. Joseph Johnson and Dequan Street are shining in the spotlight after giving impressive performances on the gridiron. They have been chosen as the Coahoma Community College "Athletes of the Week" for Week 5 of the 2019 football season.
