Beverly Allen, 55, of Clarksdale died June 7, 2020 at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Public viewing is June 19, 2020 at Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home. Graveside service is 1 p.m. June 20, 2020 at Heavenly Rest Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Gooden presiding.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home.


Willye B. Shanks

Willye B. Shanks, 98, of Clarksdale, born Nov. 3, 1922, died.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. June 17 with the Rev. Thompson officiating. Burial is at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 at Century Funeral Home.

Former Clarksdale High star Jenkins named top lineman in state

JACKSON — Elgton Jenkins, a 2014 Clarksdale High School graduate and senior center for the Mississippi State football team, has been named the 2018 Entergy/Kent Hull Trophy winner signifying the top offensive lineman in Mississipi.

The 6 foot, 4 inch, 310 pound Clarksdale native was chosen by a panel of NFL scouts working the state.

Edna Nowell, 90, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday March 27, 2019, in Ooltewah, Tenn., and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.


Mississippi's Boys & Girls Clubs come to Clarksdale for celebration

Each year, the announcement is made in a different community in Mississippi. This year, the celebration was held in the Pinnacle at Coahoma Community College on Friday, March 8.
