City of Clarksdale recognizes employee, yards of the month

The city of Clarksdale recently recognized its Employee of the Month and also named its Yards of the Month.

Lynn Logan, an employee in the city court clerk’s office, was named as the March Employee of the Month. The award was announced the Clarksdale Board of Mayor and Commissioners meeting held Monday, March 11.


CCC softball looking toward conference play

Coahoma Community College softball is making strides toward becoming a winning program in the MACJC Conference. Head Coach Erin Smith knows how tough the conference is but believes that Coahoma has the skills to outplay any team. The Lady Tigers are looking to improve in 2019 with a great deal of experience and promising future talent.

April K. Smith, 39, of Clarksdale, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, in Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Delta Burial Corporation at 429 Yazoo Ave. in Clarksdale.

Samantha Nicole Ashcraft and Kenneth Michael Habetz, Jr. were united in marriage Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at four o’clock in the afternoon at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church at Harbour Island, Bahamas.

Demarcus Partee

Demarcus Partee, 27, of Clarksdale, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.

He was born June 9, 1991.

Visitation will include a family hour from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, with the public visitation being from 2 to 4 p.m. at Stringer-Redmon Funeral Home at 119 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Clarksdale.

Local incumbent judges Haney, Webster re-elected; levee board hopefuls McGlown, Hunter will meet in Nov. 27 runoff election

While there were some questions answered in Tuesday’s general election, there remain a few races where the winners are still to be determined.

Locally, Circuit Court Judge Charles Webster and County Judge Kent Haney both won re-election to their seats, as did Congressman Bennie Thompson.
