A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Lyon.

Albert Holman Williams, 76, born in Davenport on April 20, 1944, died Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was a Clarksdale resident and graduated from Coahoma Agricultural High School (“Aggie”). He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Tugaloo College.

Lifelong Clarksdale resident, Richard Winston “Wimpy” Gilbert, 89, passed away on May 20, 2020, at N.W.R.M.C. He graduated from Clarksdale High School, Delta State College and the School of Banking at LSU.  He was retired from United Southern Bank as a Senior Vice-President.

Patricia Boyd Giles, 79, died Jan. 17, 2020, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tenn. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery.

St. Elizabeth School recognizes Geography Bee winners

Shown are the winners in the recent Geography Bee held at St. Elizabeth School in Clarksdale. Fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders took part in the bee. Kyle Rawlinson, left, won first place and he will now take a test to enter the regional Geography Bee. Placing second was Bryant Johnson, center, while Ben Pennington, at right, was third.



Anita Antone

Anita Antone, 79, a Clarksdale resident who was retired from FedEx, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Clarksdale Nursing Home.

Ms. Antone loved her pets. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steaner Augustine Antone and Ida Marie Sbravati Antone.
