GERMANTOWN, TENN.—Ann Tomlinson Barnett, 93, of Germantown, Tenn., passed away Oct. 29, 2019 at Regional One Health Medical Center. Born in Helena, Ark. on Jan. 22, 1926 to Mr. & Mrs. E.P. Tomlinson, she grew up in Clarksdale.

A domestic disturbance turned violent with shots fired into a Clarksdale home last week.
The Clarksdale Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 500 block of Catalpa Street at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Officers discovered the shooting was the result of a domestic disturbance.

Christine (Tina) Dampier McGee, 66, of Cordova, Tenn. died Nov. 16, 2019 at her residence. Public viewing is 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at Hornburger Byas Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Nov. 23,2019 at New Beginning M.B. Church in Clarksdale. The pastor will be announced later.
Benton Frank Barrett, age 81, of Grenada died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. He was born Feb. 27, 1938 in Bruce to the late William Benton and Jessie Lee (Goforth) Barrett.
Arnett Tillis, 90, born Jan. 30, 1929 to the late Joe Dean and Julia Cox, died in Jacksonville, Fla., Oct. 21, 2019. She was a retired teacher from the Clarksdale Municipal School District.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov.5, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are noon Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale with burial in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
A Clarksdale man was sentenced Feb. 5 to life in prison for the murder of a man in a Clarksdale park in September 2017.
On Feb. 5, Marcus Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury after a two-day trial in Coahoma County Circuit Court.
The Coahoma County Board of Supervisors will be appealing the Mississippi Supreme Court’s ruling issued earlier this month that would allow the city of Clarksdale to annex three areas currently in the county.
After 12 years as the Clarksdale Municipal School District Superintendent of Schools, Dennis J. Dupree will retire June 28.
