The Clarksdale Police Department has chased and caught a fleeing vehicle and the incident has resulted in felony charges against the driver.
Police attempted to pull over a red Kia about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and when it failed to stop police pursued it until it wrecked.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery.

Coahoma County saw no new cases of COVID-19 reported Monday and it was the first time the local number has not increased since the first case was reported March 18.
The county currently has 38 confirmed cases of the disease and one fatality attributed to the disease on April 4.
Dillard Dee Melton, Sr., 86, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at his home in Tutwiler.
Mr. Dillard was a workaholic, avid hunter and cotton grower who lived and breathed farming.
Head Coach Micheal Stringer has been building the Coahoma Community College basketball program brick by brick. Coahoma has been making strides on and off the court. Last season, the Tigers were very competitive and starting to have a winning attitude. Despite winning three games, Coahoma lost 12 games by 3-5 points.

When I think of our community, the phrase that comes to mind is “sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
It’s summer in Mississippi. Sunshine is plentiful. But when you take a closer look at Clarksdale, there are many dark corners in need of sunlight.
The Clarkdale Police Department is investigating a Sunday night shooting, the shoplifting of three TVs and a breaking and entering with the alleged burglars caught inside.
