Willie V. Dawson, 95, of Clarksdale, born Feb. 12, 1925, died.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. May 30 with Bishop Dawson officiating. Burial was at McLaurin Memorial Garden. Visitation was 1 to 5 p.m. May 29 at Century Funeral Home.

Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting a cluster of COVID-19 infections related to a recent funeral in Northeast Mississippi.
The funeral and after-service gathering were held on May 17, in the city of Baldwyn (located in Lee and Prentiss counties) and were attended by approximately 100 people.

Quitman County Community Work Center escapee Walter Lee Lewis is now in custody.
Lewis, 31, was arrested around 2 p.m. Friday without incident in Fulton and will be returned to prison.
It is not known how Lewis made it to Fulton or if he had help making his escape Thursday.

Clarksdale Police are seeking information on a shooting early Thursday morning that sent a man to a Memphis hospital. Police are also seeking information on three burglaries reported Wednesday.

Anita Antone, 79, a Clarksdale resident who was retired from FedEx, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Clarksdale Nursing Home.
Ms. Antone loved her pets. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church
She was preceded in death by her parents, Steaner Augustine Antone and Ida Marie Sbravati Antone.
