STARKVILLE -- Cotton and corn acreage in Mississippi are more than 30% below March projections, while growers of soybeans and peanuts planted much more than initially forecasted.
Tens of thousands of yellow and orange cosmos, bask in the Mississippi Delta sunshine on the banks of the Sunflower River in Martin Luther King Park this week. Coahoma County saw no new cases of COVID-19 reported Monday and it was the first time the local number has not increased since the first case was reported March 18.
The county currently has 38 confirmed cases of the disease and one fatality attributed to the disease on April 4.
JONESTOWN — After several murders caused by shootings took place in Clarksdale in recent weeks, Jonestown mayor Kenny Lester decided to take action.
Lester held a “street ministry” across from city hall where pastors and members of the Jonestown community prayed in a circle with approximately 20 individuals on Nov. 20.
Betty Pike, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 in Round Lake Beach, Ill.
Betty was born in Drew on Oct. 6, 1933. She owned and operated Nellie May's gift shop in Clarksdale for many years. She also ran Kathryn’s on Moon Lake with her husband Bob. Betty was a lifelong animal lover and will be missed by her dog Baby.
