Clarksdale author Thompson unveils new book at hometown appearance Friday

Over the past decade, Clarksdale native Wright Thompson has steadily carved out a niche as one of the most successful sportswriters in America.

His work includes the most-read articles in the history of ESPN Magazine and he’s been anthologized in The Best American Sports Writing books 10 times.

New downtown business will be combination of deli, butcher, restaurant

You’ll soon be able to go to a deli/butcher/restaurant where you can pick out your choice of fresh meat from a Mississippi farm and have a top chef cook it up for you under a new concept coming to downtown Clarksdale.

The Hooker Grocer + Eatery will open Monday, Nov. 19 at 316 John Hooker Lane.
