Broomfield leads way as Lady Wildcats win district

Senior guard Patrice Broomfield was the leading scorer in both games as the Clarksdale High School girls won the district tournament championship in Greenwood last week.

Winning the tournament put the Lady Wildcats (20-8, 7-1) in the Class 4A playoffs and they opened with a 59-24 win at home against North Pontotoc Monday night.



Milers Lafeyette Cook, Sr.

Milers Lafeyette Cook, Sr., 82, of Clarksdale retired from Cooper Tire in Quality Control, died Feb. 6, 2020 at his home. Visitation was 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at Church of Christ in Clarksdale. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 at Church of Christ in Clarksdale with burial in the Cook Family Cemetery in Oakland.

Funeral service is 2:30 p.m. Feb. 2, 2020 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Luster Tyler presiding. Burial follows at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
