Longtime Clarksdale firefighter Chicorelli retiring after 40 years

Chris Chicorelli, assistant fire chief with the Clarksdale Fire Department, holds a plaque with a golden ax that was presented to him by the city during Monday’s meeting of the mayor and board of commissioners at City Hall.

Over the past decade, Clarksdale native Wright Thompson has steadily carved out a niche as one of the most successful sportswriters in America.

His work includes the most-read articles in the history of ESPN Magazine and he’s been anthologized in The Best American Sports Writing books 10 times.

Demarcus Partee, 27, of Clarksdale, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018.

He was born June 9, 1991.

Visitation will include a family hour from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, with the public visitation being from 2 to 4 p.m. at Stringer-Redmon Funeral Home at 119 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Clarksdale.
