Broomfield leads way as Lady Wildcats win district

Senior guard Patrice Broomfield was the leading scorer in both games as the Clarksdale High School girls won the district tournament championship in Greenwood last week.

Winning the tournament put the Lady Wildcats (20-8, 7-1) in the Class 4A playoffs and they opened with a 59-24 win at home against North Pontotoc Monday night.

Patricia Boyd Giles, 79, died Jan. 17, 2020, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tenn. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband Jonathan Hudson of Clarksdale. She was preceded in death by the late Willie Moore Sr. and survived by Lula Mae Moore of Clarksdale.

Modena Taylor Buchanan, 91, of Marks died Nov. 9, 2019 in Sanford, Fla. Public viewing is from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at Hornburger Byas Funeral Home. Funeral service is noon Nov. 23, 2019 at Valley Queen M.B. Church in Marks with the Rev. Bernard Handy presiding. Burial follows at Belleview Family Cemetery in Hinchcliffe.
