Clarksdale native Dr. Reed Hogan proposes treatment for COVID-19

JACKSON -- It began with a treatment for skin inflammation. Then, Reed Hogan II, MD, began pondering if an inexpensive, available, over-the-counter treatment might also work in severe gastrointestinal illness, much of it caused by inflammation.

The Clarksdale native was seeing success. Then, COVID-19 hit.

Howard Smith

Howard Smith was called to his reward on May 4, 2018, as a result of a heart attack, reaching the age of 83.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1935, in Chickasha, Okla., to Dan and Lena Smith. He was the fourth child in a family of 12 children. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to DeRidder, La.

Lavon D. Dye

Lavon D. Dye, 87, of Randolph, a retired security guard with Sunshine Mills in Tupelo, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Mr. Dye was a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he guarded the atomic bomb. He loved gardening and farming. He also raised miniature horses, llamas, cows and ducks.
