Police investigate shots fired, aggravated assault

The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating two incidents where shots were fired into a home and one where a man was shot.

All three shootings were reported in the space of about 30 minutes Friday night. 

Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about these incidents to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving these crimes or any other felony in the community.



Leroy Hubert Owens

Leroy Hubert Owens, 96, of Union City, Tenn., formerly of Clarksdale passed away at the Obion County Nursing home, on June 16, 2020.

Graveside services will be held in Clarksdale at Oakridge Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating.

Eula Lee Brown

Eula Lee Brown, 78, of Clarksdale, died May 4, 2018, at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale. 

Public viewing is Friday, May 11, 2018, at Delta Burial from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Bradley Temple COGIC with Elder T.O. Adams presiding. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.


Lee Academy’s Etheridge, Oliver win tennis district tournaments

Lee Academy had two freshman players (Maggie Etheridge and Alexis Oliver) this season to win girls’ 1 and 2 singles at the district tournament. Alexis Oliver, last year’s number one girls’ singles player for Lee, came in second this year at North State and will play in the overall State Tournament.
