Police investigate shots fired, aggravated assault

The Clarksdale Police Department is investigating two incidents where shots were fired into a home and one where a man was shot.

All three shootings were reported in the space of about 30 minutes Friday night. 

Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about these incidents to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving these crimes or any other felony in the community.



Leroy Hubert Owens

Leroy Hubert Owens, 96, of Union City, Tenn., formerly of Clarksdale passed away at the Obion County Nursing home, on June 16, 2020.

Graveside services will be held in Clarksdale at Oakridge Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020 with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating.

Toney Brennard Moore

Toney Brennard Moore, 60, of Clarksdale died Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Delta Burial Funeral Home in Clarksdale.

A graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at McLaurin Memorial Garden in Lyon.



Amanda McCray

Amanda McCray, 36, of Clarksdale died June 19, 2020. Public viewing is 2 to 5 p.m. June 26, 2020 at Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home. Funeral service is noon June 27, 2020 at Heavenly Rest Cemetery with Pastor Luster C. Tyler II presiding. Arrangements are entrusted to Hornburger-Byas Funeral Home.
