Lee Academy will play its preseason football games in the North Delta jamboree Friday afternoon.
Social distancing rules will be in effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The games will be divided into two sessions. Fans with teams playing during Session 1 will only be permitted to be in the stands during that time.
The Colts will be playing during Session 1.
Indianola Academy will open against Marshall Academy at 4 p.m. for the first game of Session 1.
Washington School will play Lee Academy at 4:30 p.m. for the second game of the session. Lee will play Indianola Academy at 5:10 p.m. for the third game of the session.
Washington School will play Marshall Academy at 5:40 p.m. for the fourth game of the session.
Kirk Academy, Magnolia Heights School, North Delta and Tunica Academy will be the four teams playing during Session 2. Only fans of those teams will be permitted to be in the stands during that time.
Masks are mandatory to enter the gate.
Teams will be expected to bring their own coolers, cups and ice.
Each game will have a 20-minute running clock.
Teams will be able to warmup on the practice field and baseball field.
There will be 10 extra minutes between games for teams that play back-to-back.
Teams are expected to clean up their own sidelines after each game.
The Colts
Lee Academy is coming off of a trip to the state semifinals in 2019.
A total of 33 athletes are expected to be on the roster, which is a significant increase from past seasons.
Rick Johnston is going into his fourth season as the head coach.
Lee made the playoffs in all three of Johnston’s seasons, but lost in the opening round his first two years.
Senior Luke Crumpton will likely be the starting quarterback going into the season.
Kirk Academy and North Delta are Lee’s district opponents.
Lee opens the season at Magnolia Heights at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 and plays its home opener against Bayou Academy at 7 p.m. Aug. 28.
