Robert Fava, Jr., 82, was born on April 14, 1938 and went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 18, 2020 at his home in Alligator. He was the Owner and Operator of Mary Ann’s Variety Store and Fava Brothers Grocery in Alligator for over 50 years. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Robert Fava was a devout member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Clarksdale; Knights of Columbus; Mayor of Alligator for 30 years and served on the Board of Alderman for many years; and retired from Corbin and Russwin after 42 years. He served in the Army National Guard during the Berlin Crisis (1961) and Ole Miss Crisis (1962). Since his childhood, he loved spending time with his family and friends on Desoto Lake. He will truly be missed by his family.
Robert Fava was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His life was a testimony of his faith. Robert Fava is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Morris Fava, of Alligator. His son, Robert (Bob) Fava, III of Alligator; his daughter, Valarie Fava Peters of Oxford; and his daughter-in-law, Sandy Roach Fava of Clarksdale. His granddaughters, Myles Fava Greenlee (Bateman) of Merigold; Alex and Sydney Fava of Clarksdale; and Ann Fava Peters of Oxford. His great-grandchildren, Charles Saxton Greenlee and Catherine Everett (Rin) Greenlee of Merigold. His brothers, Ronald Fava (Pauline) of Clarksdale; Anthony Fava of Germantown, Tenn.; Raymond Fava (Hazel) of Clover, S.C.; and Jack Fava (Cynthia) of Midlothian, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Joseph Fava, and his parents, Robert Sr. and Julia Mangialardi Fava.
