DUNDEE – Beverly Ann Blackwell Johnson, 67, entered the kingdom of Heaven on January 21, 2022 at the Baptist Hospital in Oxford.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Allen Johnson of Dundee; her daughter, Paige Von Kanel (Randy) of Lexa, Ark.; her son Trey Johnson (Al) of Helena, Ark.; her three precious grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Tucker Allen Von Kanel (Chloe), Cameron Charles Von Kanel, her namesake and baby girl, Ann Marie Von Kanel; her father-in-law, Roger Johnson of Lula; and a host of family and special friends, particularly “Ponkie” Jeanie Borgononi, of Lyon, who was her best friend since childhood, Morene Treat of Rondo, Ark., and Kay Sipes of Greenville. A very special thank you to Dr. Yamini Menon of Germantown, Tenn. and Dr. Gill Pillow of Helena, Ark., for the compassionate care they gave to her.
Beverly was born Oct. 18, 1954 in Clarksdale. She accepted Christ at an early age, was of the Baptist faith, and attended Riverside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Henry Blackwell, Sr., her mother, Gwen Tutor Blackwell, her brothers, Chuck Blackwell and Tommy Blackwell and her mother-in-law, Emma Ellingburg Johnson.
She was a longtime passionate supporter of the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Clarksdale, MS, and a proud volunteer in numerous Emmaus Walks in Greenwood, MS, which brought her so much joy.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in Clarksdale, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m., also at Riverside Baptist Church. Burial will be at Barbee Cemetery in Lula. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling arrangements.
Bro. Seth Sandusky and Bro. Gerald Castilo will officiate the service. Pallbearers are Tucker Von Kanel, Cameron Von Kanel, Randy Von Kanel, Trey Johnson, Al Sherman and Todd Sipes. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Bryant Johnson and Van Fowler.
