Richards is interim superintendent for Coahoma County School District

Dr. Ilean Richards has been appointed interim school superintendent for the Coahoma County School District and she gave her first report to the district’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday, July 10, at their regular monthly meeting.

A longtime resident of Greenville, she is a graduate of McNair High School in her native Belzoni.



Students get chance to see inner workings of Clarksdale city government

Dr. Mary Frances Dear-Moton, president/CEO of Family and Youth Opportunities Division Inc., wanted to take her summer job readiness program students for ages 15 and 16 on a field trip this year.

The funds were unavailable, so Moton decided to take everyone to Clarksdale city hall and meet elected officials Thursday morning.




Clarksdale High student gets hands-on medical experience at Emory University

A Clarksdale student was able to take part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience this summer.

Taylor C. Matthews joined outstanding high school students from across the nation at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine, at Emory University in Atlanta.




Names debated for planned Clarksdale High football stadium

The new football/track complex at Clarksdale High School took center stage during the Clarksdale Municipal School District’s meeting Thursday.

The board approved the sale of $8.5 million in bonds to fund the construction of the complex, while the latter part of the meeting was devoted to whose name will adorn the complex.
