Donald Smith, Jr.

Donald Smith, Jr., 59, a retired machinist and welder from Lyon, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.




Rickey D. Walker

Rickey D. Walker, 32, of Sikeston, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Delta Burial funeral home at 429 Yazoo Ave. in Clarksdale.


Ora Lee Morris

Ora Lee Morris, 91, of Clarksdale, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Greenbough Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksdale.

A public viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Delta Burial funeral home at 429 Yazoo Ave. in Clarksdale.



Author Hank Burdine dishes on his favorite topic - the Delta

Author Hank Burdine’s latest book is a collection of his stories about the people, places and things that make up the Delta.

Patsy James Walton

Patsy James Walton, 66, of Lyon, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at North Sunflower Medical Center in Ruleville.

Patsy was born in Bruce on Jan. 1, 1952, to Clinton and Mary Agnes James.  She grew up in Clarksdale and graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1969.


Benjamin Allen Crawford, III

Benjamin Allen Crawford, III, 64, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, surrounded by his family, from complications following a liver transplant.

Ben was born in Clarksdale, on Feb. 27, 1954, to the late Benjamin Allen Crawford, Jr. and Juanita Crawford.

Darren Byest, 45, of St. Louis, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at St. Louis University Hospital.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Woolf Funeral Home at 761 McKinley St. in Clarksdale.


Jessie Mae Clark Morris

Jessie Mae Clark Morris, 73, of 4070 Farrell Road in Clarksdale, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2018, at her home.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, from noon to 5 p.m. at Woolf Funeral Home at 761 McKinley St. in Clarksdale.
