Herbert H. Toler, Sr., 87, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, in Dallas.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Century Funeral Home at 506 Aston Ave. in Clarksdale and on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 9 to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou.



Milton Hardiman

Milton Hardiman, 64, died Friday, April 5, 2019, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Century Funeral Home at 506 Aston Ave. in Clarksdale and on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 11 a.m. to noon at St. Mark Baptist Church in Webb.


Roosevelt Brassell

Roosevelt Brassell, 59, of Jonestown, died Friday, April  5, 2019, at his home.

A public viewing will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Delta Burial Funeral Home at 615 S. State St. in Clarksdale.



Melvin Croom

Melvin Croom, 56, of Jackson, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at University Medical Center in Jackson.

A public viewing will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Delta Burial Funeral Home at 615 S. State St. in Clarkdale.


Dr. John Howard Douglas

Dr. John Howard Douglas, 92, a retired dentist who had an office in Clarksdale for 20 years, died peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. 

He was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Goodman, where he was reared and graduated high school.  He was the son of the late Howard and Allein Waits Douglas.






St. Elizabeth School's backpack project helps feed area school children

Students from St. Elizabeth Catholic School are participating in a “backpack project” to help feed needy children who would otherwise have to go hungry all weekend.

This is the third year of the project and Immaculate Conception and St. Elizabeth Catholic churches partnered to make it happen.
