Expecting to turn things around, the Lee Academy Colts (0-3) will host their Spring Break Tournament Monday, March 11 playing Delta Academy at 11 a.m. and Carroll Academy at 3 p.m. Giving Lee Academy a break, Delta and Carroll will play one another at 1 p.m.
With a 4.0 GPA, a 29 on the ACT and more than 100 hours of community service, Lee Academy offensive guard Crawford Allen won the 21st annual Ronald “Hoss” Bennett football award at Oakhurst Baptist Church on Thursday night.
The Coahoma County boys basketball team defeated New Site at home Monday night in a seemingly effortless way ending the game at 65-45.
“Once you get a winner’s mentality, it’s tough to beat you in a battle,” said Red Panthers coach Derrick Moore about his players. “These guys have that mentality.”
The Clarksdale High School boys basketball team lost to the No. 1 team, Pontotoc, in round 2 of the playoffs, 44-43. A hostile crowd and controversial calls were considered by some to be the difference of the game with Pontotoc taking 24 free throws and CHS with 10.

With another win under their belt, the Coahoma County girls and boys basketball teams transitioned with ease into the second round of the playoffs. Both teams are no strangers to the territory as they are quite familiar with the trip to the state tournament at the Mississippi Coliseum.
All four of our high schools in Coahoma County have experienced a tremendous amount of success — more than usual — during the 2018-19 school year.
