Barbara “Gail” Russell Brien departed from this world and entered the gates of Heaven on Aug. 24, 2022 at the age of 75.
She was born to Christine and Bill Russell on July 9, 1947. After graduating from Indianola High School, she attended Mississippi State University where she met her future husband, Robert “Bobby” Brien. They were married on Sept. 8, 1968.
The best years of Gail’s life were spent raising her niece, Beth. She was a doting and loving mother and always put her loved ones before herself. She spent her time cooking delicious meals for her family and friends, playing tennis, and even researched and wrote a book about her family’s genealogy. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend, but most importantly, she was an amazing “GG” to her three granddaughters. They were the true loves of her life and they adored her more than words could express.
Gail is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Brien; daughter, Beth Neblett (Thomas); and her granddaughters, Ann Elise, Bramlett, and Nora Neblett.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Russell; mother, Christine Russell Baxter; brother, Gary Russell; and stepfather, Tom Baxter.
Visitation was 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale with a graveside services at Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell is handling arrangements.
