Beverly M. Hatchett, 81, passed away February 3, 2023, at her home.
Visitation is Monday, February 6, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale followed by services at 2 p.m. Monday at Meredith-Nowell Chapel in Clarksdale.
Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, is handling the arrangements.
She was the last of five children born to Van G. Meek, Sr. and Kate McNeely Meek on Dec. 5, 1941, in Postelle, Ark. As a child, her family moved to Mississippi. She was a graduate of Clarksdale High School. She was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church.
She was retired from Bellsouth after more than 33 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tommy; daughter Meg Murphey and husband Ken; son Jay Hatchett; one grandchild Kate Murphey and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: Jo-Ann Corviss, Van G. Meek, Joyce Willis, and Shirley Hawes.
The family requests donations be made to the Clarksdale-Coahoma County Animal Shelter, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or charity of the donor's choice.
