JACKSON - On Thursday, March 27, 2025, 22-year-old Michael McLeod, a law enforcement officer and his brother 21-year-old Marquavius McLeod were arrested in connection to the shooting that occurred on Lamar and Pearl streets on Saturday March 22, shortly after the Hal's St. Paddy's Parade.
That shooting saw one person, Cortez George, 21, of Jackson, killed and seven hit by gunfire in Jackson, Capitol District.
The two have been charged with each one count of murder and seven counts of aggravated assault. Additional arrests are anticipated. Both men were denied bond.
This remains an open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be made at this time. Additional information may be provided to the public when available.
Michael McLeod was an officer with the University of Mississippi Medical Center security force and has a clean record.
Marquavius McLeod, has been charged with 13 felonies over the past three years.
