Weather-Related Incident Overview
Impacts from recent winter weather continue to create hazardous conditions across much of the Mid-South, including Coahoma County and the City of Clarksdale.
Hazardous Roadways & Black Ice
Roadways across the County remain covered with snow, sleet, and solid ice. Travel on secondary roads is virtually hazardous in many locations.
Even where primary routes have been treated, motorists should exercise extreme caution. Any slush or partial melting that occurred during daylight hours is rapidly refreezing as temperatures drop overnight. This is resulting in widespread black ice, which is nearly invisible and extremely dangerous.
Public Safety Message
Please avoid all non-essential travel.
If travel is unavoidable, motorists should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, including a flashlight, food, and water.
