Retired U.S. Army Colonel Donald Ray Hite, 86, died October 3, 2022 at home.
Visitation is Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Clarksdale Baptist Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, at Clarksdale Baptist Church with burial in the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Col. Hite served in the choir and on the board of deacons at Clarksdale Baptist Church. He was a long time member of the American Legion and a Mason. Col. Hite was an avid reader of military history and a die hard Formula One race fan, having attended races across Europe from the early 1970s through the mid 2010s.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, “Janie” Adams Hite; sons, Donald Ray Hite, Jr. of Clarksdale, retired Col. Steven (Kathi) Hite of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren Geoffrey Harrison Hite, Spencer Christian Hite, Chelsea Renee Filer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow Wilson and Flora Edna Crick Hite; brothers Billy Hite, Gerald Hite; sister Faye Hite Richard.
