There are so many people today that will not call on Jesus because of their past adventures, their belief in other gods, their lustful ways, and many other excuses. Even though they have a repentant attitude many believe they are too far gone for anyone to believe they have or want to make a change in their life.
Some are down on their luck and afraid to cry out for help because their hope in humanity is low and they don’t believe God will hear them.
One only needs to read the first chapter of the gospel of Matthew. Matthew, one of the disciples of Jesus, changed his life when he heard the call from Jesus. Matthew was a tax collector and not popular among the people. His reputation was one of a leech and he lived off of other people’s hard earned money yet Jesus called Matthew to follow Him.
Matthew saw Jesus as a carpenter with calloused hands, no headquarters, no clout with the local church, yet he accepted Him as his Lord and Savior and never looked back to what he had been doing.
Read the first 17 verses of Matthew chapter one and see the lineage of Jesus. Jesus displays the bad apples in His family yet many of them were blessed even though they had a past that was unworthy.
Rahab was a harlot; Jacob cheated his brother out of his father’s blessing and David wrote psalms one day and cheated with his captain’s wife the next. Jesus’ mom was not married when she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. His birth was in a stable, his home life was of ordinary means, and he was a common laborer.
Jesus knows us as we are and fully understands our past and where we have been.
The final verses in Matthew chapter one tells us that Jesus was born to take away our sins and give us eternal life if we will accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
After His birth Jesus entered into every aspect of human life yet He never sinned. None of us on earth can say that we have never sinned but we do have Jesus that interceded for us on the cross so that we don’t have to continue in sin. He went through all the pain and suffering and was crucified for our misgivings.
There are many in the world today that are suffering. There are many that are lonely and depressed and seem to have no hope for the future. All of us at one time or another has faced discouragement and all things seemed hopeless.
Jesus knows what you are facing and He offers you a solution if you will just call on Him and allow Him to enter your heart and guide you through the Holy Spirit.
Anything that we are facing on earth can be overcome through the saving grace of Jesus Christ and His promise of eternal life with Him. We are going to be in the world for only a few short years yet a heavenly eternal home is ours for the asking.
Call on Jesus today and allow Him to guide you in all that you do.
