They say that the best defense is a strong offense. President Joe Biden has taken this stance following the extremely slow response of his administration to the Helene hurricane devastation. At that time Trump appeared with Franklin Graham, leader of the Samaritan's Purse charity, in North Carolina a few days after the tragedy, but Kamala Harris was seen sipping beer with TV comedian Stephen Colbert. Biden's offense took the form of saying that Trump had lied about the government spending FEMA funds on illegal immigrants while neglecting our own citizens. Biden said emphatically that "this has to stop!" Earlier Hillary Clinton had also said that criticism of the government must cease. Those statements violate many of our freedoms.
FEMA expenditures and illegal (they call it "undocumented") immigrant costs are both under the control of the Department of Home Security. (As is the Secret Service.) Ultimately, they come out of the same pot. The secretary of that department is Cuban-born Alejandro Mayorkas. This is the same man who told us multiple times that the southern border was closed. With that background, how much faith do you place in his statement about the separation of the previous expenditures? Republican representative Matt Gaetz has now asked for a full accounting of FEMA expenditures.
So, how are the illegal immigrant funds being spent? In New York City there are currently about 150 hotels that are being used as emergency migrant shelters. The city is looking for about 14,000 additional rooms through next year. The expenditures for housing alone over the past two years plus the current fiscal year are expected to exceed $2.3 billion. Total migrant spending in NYC over 3 years is predicted to approach $5.76 billion. No wonder New York citizens and the mayor are complaining about their budget being broken!
The above is only for New York City. There are over 170 sanctuary cities and counties in this country. The other major cities are San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Philadelphia, Boston, and Portland, Or. These cities are all run by democrats. Total expenditures in the USA for illegals undoubtedly runs into the tens of billions of dollars.
Late news: the Biden-Harris DOJ has sued the administration of Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia for passing legislation to purge the voting rolls in that commonwealth. 6,303 non-citizens were found on those rolls. And Gov. Gavin Newsom of California has passed legislation that removes the identification requirement for voters. Thus, the real purpose of the Biden-Harris open borders policy is exposed--it is to increase the number of potential democratic voters, regardless of crime or fentanyl. The integrity of our election is at stake.
Meanwhile it is instructive to remember the words of far-left politician Bernie Sanders in August on Meet the Press. When asked about Kamala Harris recently changing her position on many issues including fracking, he said: "She is doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election." Can you believe anything she says?
