The Clarksdale Police Department is seeking clues to a commercial burglary and the shooting of a home in Clarksdale.
Police were called to Booker T. Washington School recently and when they arrived on the scene spoke with Brenda Miller who said when she came to work she found the building had been burglarized.
The incident was reported at 7:47 a.m. Thursday, May 27 and apparently occurred overnight.
The thief gained entry to the building by breaking a window in one of the classrooms. Two I-pads used to teach elementary students at the school were reported stolen.
The case was assigned to Investigator L. Grimes.
Clarksdale Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez has asked anyone with information about this incident to call the Clarksdale Police Department at 621-8156, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or simply dial 911. All calls remain anonymous and cash is paid to those providing information that leads to solving a crime.
Shooting into dwelling
Clarksdale police are investigating the shooting of a home in Northwest Clarksdale.
Police were called to the 500 block of Lynn Street after the homeowner discovered a bullet hole in her residence.
The occupant said she left her home for a short amount of time and when she returned, notice the her house had been shot. She said when she was leaving she heard a gunshot, but did not think anything about it.
The incident occurred sometime before 4:49 p.m. Thursday and no one was injured.
The case was assigned to Assistant Chief Vince Ramirez.
Crime Prevention
When you hear the sirens or see the police lights it is probably too late to prevent a crime.
So the Clarksdale Police Department is saying, if it’s suspicious to you, it’s worth reporting it to 911.
Examples include:
Unusual noises, including screaming, sounds of fighting, breaking glass.
People in or around buildings or areas who do not appear to be conducting legitimate
business.
Vehicles driving slowly and aimlessly through neighborhoods, around schools or parking lots.
People peering into parked vehicles that are not their own.
People who change their behavior when they notice they have been seen.
People dressed inappropriately for the weather or occasion. (i.e., heavy coat in warm weather).
