I am sure that I will hear from some of you about this devotional; however I must say that I believe we as a people of America are failing our future generations through our school systems.
It seems that the same system that has raised a great nation from the beginning has all of a sudden become outdated! Many will argue that our school systems are behind other nations in book learning and they are probably correct in their thinking.
One thing that continues to keep these schools ahead of us is most likely their discipline throughout the system and obedient children.
Good Schools
Now don’t get me wrong. America has some of the best educational systems in the world and I doubt they will ever be surpassed from any other country.
Our colleges and universities are beyond comparison in educational tools and opportunities given to the students that want to learn. We have some tremendous high schools and grade schools in our great country and in all of these schools you will find discipline.
From the students that attend these schools you will find a home that cares for its children, a home that has discipline, and a home that has a sense of caring for one another with love and direction.
The same students that have gone through our public school systems in the past are now the ones in charge of our children’s future. I often wonder if their experience in our systems were so bad that they are now allowing all of these changes to be made, changes that are hurting our children.
Parenting Replaced
We are seeing generations of children being taught to fend for themselves and not depend on others. They are being raised in homes with little or no discipline and these same parents are demanding that our school systems give into their way of thinking instead of allowing our teachers and administrators to do what has been successful for hundreds of years.
The very problem I see in our failing systems is that the Bible and prayer were taken away from our students in a public forum. We have allowed atheistic thinking to become a major part of school and Christianity has been kicked out to the curb.
Political Correctness
Our systems are now so tied up with political correctness that our teachers can’t use common sense in making decisions. Six year old children playing games in school using their fingers to point at another child, as a gun, will get them expelled. Grade school kids showing affection toward one another can get them kicked out of school creating grief for the parents on relocating their child or having to move to another location.
I realize that we can never go back to the way it was but why can’t we re-establish a sense of discipline in our school systems without having to call in the police.
What is wrong with teaching our students the correct way of participation with others even though they may not have this direction from their homes?
Return to Reverence
Kicking God out of our school has created many problems. It has caused much distrust among the leaders of our schools, communities, and even our homes.
Everyone is so scared of what to say or do that most of the time there is nothing said or done when it comes to communicating a good correctional system. The best book of wisdom and knowledge is no longer available in our public schools and that is our Bible!
Proverbs 29:15 tells us, “The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.”
Prayer: Father God I pray for our school children that they will be taught about you and your Word. I pray that they will know you personally and that an eternal life is only through their faith in you. Amen.
