The Lee Academy softball team lost the lead late and fell 4-3 to DeSoto on Tuesday.
DeSoto was down 3-2 in the top of the fourth inning when a player singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Lee Academy (10-8-1) lost despite out-hitting DeSoto five to two.
Lee Academy got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Lee Academy.
DeSoto’s first pitcher went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out two.
Jett Harrell was in the circle for Lee Academy. Harrell allowed two hits and four runs over four innings, striking out four.
Lee Academy tallied five hits on the day. Harrell and Emily Grace Smith each collected multiple hits for Lee Academy. Smith and Harrell each collected two hits to lead Lee Academy.
The Fillies also lost to Marshall Academy 11-0.
Lee Academy watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-0 loss to Marshall Academy on Wednesday September 8. Marshall Academy scored on a single and an error in the first inning.
Lee Academy struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Marshall Academy, giving up 11 runs.
Marshall Academy fired up the offense in the first inning with a single on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
One bright spot for Lee Academy was a double by Grace Carpenter in the second inning.
The Marshall Academy winning pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out ten and walking zero.

Marshall Academy racked up 11 hits in the game. Five Marshall Academy players had multiple hits. One player went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Marshall Academy in hits. Marshall Academy didn't commit a single error.
Lee hosts Marvell Academy Monday. The North State Tournament is September 25 to 27.
