Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSSA), and American Rescue Plan Act (ARP), funding for higher education was prioritized to combat challenges faced in higher education due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hinds Community College – Utica Campus received $25,235,677 in HBCU funding, $48,258,221 in CARES Act funding, $85,095,369 in ARP funding, for a total of $158,589,267.
Jackson State University received $25,756,274 in HBCU funding, $34,691,880 in CARES Act funding, $60,437,863 in ARP funding, for a total of $120,886,017.
Alcorn State University received $13,826,023 in HBCU funding, $19,272,624 in CARES Act funding, $33,482,855 in ARP funding, for a total of $66,581,501.
Mississippi Valley State University received $7,447,701 in HBCU funding, $11,685,262 in CARES Act funding, $22,861,645 in ARP funding, for a total of $ 41,994,608.
Coahoma Community College received $6,896,253 in HBCU funding, $9,980,903 in CARES Act funding, $19,112,009 in ARP funding, for a total of $35,989,165.
Tougaloo College received $3,244,023 in HBCU funding, $4,419,529 in CARES Act funding, $7,924,421 in ARP funding, for a total of $12,347,217.
Thompson’s allocations totaled totaled $82,405,951 in HBCU funding, $128,308,419 in CARES Act funding, $228,914,162 in ARP funding, for a total of $439,628,532.
