On December 26, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., officers with the Clarksdale Police Department responded to a call at Eastgate Gardens Apartments in reference to a male subject who appeared to be deceased on a couch inside an apartment.
Officers with the Clarksdale Police Department and Pafford EMS were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Timothy Whittington lying on a couch suffering from an apparent single gunshot wound to the chest. Mr. Whittington showed no signs of life.
Pafford EMS arrived on scene and confirmed Mr. Whittington was deceased. The Coahoma County Coroner was subsequently notified.
During the course of the investigation, officers were able to identify Erica Bane, the girlfriend of Mr. Whittington, as the suspect in this case. On a later date, Erica Bane was arrested by the Clarksdale Police Department and charged with murder. She is currently being held on a $300,000 bond.
