On December 24, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., the Clarksdale Police Department received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the 700 block of Pecan Street.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with several individuals who advised they had been shot. Officers on scene observed an adult male lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as Rufus Wilkins, 31.
Officers immediately rendered medical aid until Pafford EMS arrived on scene. Mr. Wilkins was transported to Northwest Regional Medical Center, where medical staff worked extensively to save his life. Despite lifesaving efforts, Mr. Wilkins succumbed to his injuries.
Mr. Wilkins is the older brother of Hertavious Wagner Williams, 24, who was murdered on December 5, 2025.
The Clarksdale Police Department, in collaboration with the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department, is working closely and diligently around the clock to investigate and solve both homicides. No further information was available at this time.
