The Delta Health System is honoring the staff throughout facilities in the Mississippi Delta by celebrating National Hospital Week May 9-15.
National Hospital Week is an opportunity to highlight Delta Health System health care workers and the innovative ways they are supporting the needs of their community members and patients.
“This year has been a year of growth for Delta Health System, and it is extremely vital to take time to thank the employees that work so hard to make our three facilities a center of excellence,” said Scott Christensen, Delta Health System Chief Executive Officer. “I am proud to work alongside our talented, dedicated team each and every day.”
Delta Health Northwest Regional in Clarksdale celebrated the week with the following events:
MONDAY: Sno-Cones For All, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
TUESDAY: Gift Deliveries, from senior management to hospital staff.
WEDNESDAY: Healthcare Heros, staff donned their favorite super-hero shirt with their scrub bottoms and treats were delivered to each department.
THURSDAY: Super Duper Cookout, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for the night shift.
The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the county.
“The Medical Center, Northwest Regional and Highland Hills employees will be enjoying a full week of fun activities,” said Chrissy Nicholson, Vice-President of Human Resources. “We are extremely proud of our employees and enjoy the fellowship opportunities.”
