Recent tornadoes have prompted a desire for people to help, but new disaster relief regulations require volunteers to be trained and certified to enter a disaster area.
MS Baptist Relief Training will be offered Saturday, April 15 at First Baptist Church in Batesville. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the cost is $25 for a new or first time certification or $15 for credential update.
For details or additional information contact Audric Chow at 662-902-1234.
The purpose of training is twofold:
• To insure a safe and efficient operation of all recovery activities.
• To provide assurance to those being served as to the quality of volunteers being utilized.
Training and credentialing is offered in three levels: Yellow Hat, Blue Hat and White Hat. Certification can be obtained in: Feeding, Chainsaw, Chaplaincy, Childcare, Site Support, and Incident Management.
Disaster relief donations can be made at the Oakhurst Church Office on West Second Street Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
