Dorothy Alday Perryman passed away at her home in Lula, Mississippi on January 9, 2025.
She is survived by her cousins Robert Charles (Bob) Graves, John Armistead (Jack) Graves, and Joseph B (Joe) Graves, all of Tunica and Linnville Dawn (Linn) Harris of Jackson, Miss.
Dorothy was born in Shaw, Miss., on April 23, 1931, the only daughter of Beatrice Malette and Cleveland Alday. She had two brothers, Donald Alday and Gene Alday. She also had a nephew, Gene Alday, Jr.
Dorothy moved to Robinsonville, Miss., in the Ninth Grade and attended Tunica County High School, graduating at the top of her class in 1949. After graduating she was employed at the Tunica County Sheriff’s office for four years.
On April 22, 1954, she married Robert Lawrence (Red) Perryman of Lula. Red farmed in Tunica County and they bought the Lula Lumber Company in the mid-1960s, where Dorothy kept the farm books and the books for the lumber company.
They were members of Lula Baptist Church and Dorothy was church treasurer for a time.
Red and Dorothy loved living in Lula and the time they spent at their lake house on Moon Lake. Red, having grown up on Moon Lake, knew every foot of the lake and he always knew where the fish were biting.
They loved fishing, farming and traveling. After retirement they traveled all over the world.
Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025
