CLARKSDALE – Douglas Leroy Smith, Sr., 87, a retired farmer, passed away Nov. 2, 2024 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Miss.
Visitation is Tuesday Nov. 5, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Clarksdale Baptist Church in Clarksdale. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m., at Clarksdale Baptist Church with entombment in the Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale.
Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Smith served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Clarksdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years JoAnn Batson Smith; son Doug Smith, Jr. (Sandra) of Alligator, Miss; daughters Cindy Smith of Southaven, Miss., and Jennifer Schilling (Kevin) of Coldwater, Miss.; grandchildren Connor Schilling (Mel), Whitney Keel (Colton), Douglas Smith (Caroline), and Sawyer Hutchinson (Cole) and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Troy and Estelle Roebuck Smith and brother George "Red" T. Wilson.
