EDITORIAL: You can stop crime in your neighborhood

There have been several stories in your Clarksdale Press Register over the past few weeks reporting on crime.
Home burglaries, reports of shots fired and two murders. We compare that to the four murders Clarksdale had at this time last year. We also want to point out in one of our 2025 murders, arrests have been made.

Opinion: Economic blackout was just a flicker

There was a nationwide “economic blackout” on Friday, Feb. 28 to protest economic inequality and the cutbacks in corporate diversity, equity and inclusion programs. But if that day’s commercial activity was an electric current, the blackout was a momentary flicker of lights before the power supply returned to normal.

Opinion: Financial literacy graduation requirement is a good idea

While the intentions were good, the odds were against a bill to add a financial literacy course to high school graduation requirements. A legislative deadline killed the proposal when it was in its fourth committee.
