The 12th annual Clarksdale Film Festival has become a premier event for movies and documentaries of the region and the Delta Blues.
Because of the recent COVID resurgence, festival organizers have unveiled a plan to hold the festival, even without the films.
Given the uncertainties of this season of time, the 2022 version of the Clarksdale Film Festival will feature that which has made the town famous.
The weekend of Jan. 28-30 will feature performances across downtown Clarksdale by legends of the Mississippi Delta Blues.
While some performances will include cover charges, many will be free events, paid for by festival funds.
The original festival plans had included, among other things, a new blues documentary and a tribute to the late Bill Luckett, co-owner of Ground Zero Blues Club, former mayor of Clarksdale, and supporter of the arts.
