FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Andrew Fischer put together his fourth multi-home run game of the season Friday night as Ole Miss Baseball (18-14, 3-8 SEC) dropped game two of its series against No. 1 Arkansas (26-3, 10-1 SEC).
The Rebels lost 8-3.
The sophomore third baseman finished the game 2-for-4 with two long balls, three RBI, and a walk. He now has 13 home runs on the season, seven of them coming in SEC play.
Fischer opened the scoring in the first inning with a 393-foot, solo home run to the fans in left center field.
The lead wouldn’t last long though as the Razorbacks scored four runs in the bottom of the opening inning on just two hits. They drew three walks in the inning and did their scoring on a bases-loaded free pass, a two-RBI single, and an RBI groundout.
Ole Miss went down in order in the second inning, but with one out and one on in the third, Fischer came to the plate again. This time he deposited one over the right field wall to cut the Arkansas lead down to one.
The Razorbacks added one more run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-3.
Mitch Murrell was the first Rebel out of the bullpen, taking over with one out in the fourth inning. He worked the next 2.1 innings and gave up just one hit while striking out two batters.
After Murrell’s night was over, the Razorbacks added on with two more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to make it 8-3.
Ole Miss had just three hits after the third inning, as the offense was quieted by the Razorback bullpen.
The two teams will play the series final today at 2 p.m. CT.
