If you didn’t get out and enjoy the sparkling spring days we had for Juke Joint Festival 2024, you missed it.
It was cool in the morning but by noon the Sun was beaming out of a blue sky and the breeze was appreciated.
The evenings were cool but not uncomfortable.
If we could have everyday in Clarksdale like that, everyone would want to move here.
But Monday came and it was time to get back to work
Summer is coming
As a son of the sunny South, I know that the glory of Spring is soon to be replaced by the hot sweltering days of Summer.
There is much to be done around here.
I hope police make a special effort to keep an eye on youth and enforce the curfew Clarksdale has had for years.
With more people outside I also hope authorities will crack down on loud mufflers and 4-wheelers on our city streets.
I once had a car with loud pipes until I realized that racket made me a target for a ticket. I quickly learned to mind my manners in town.
It’s also time to start mowing around here.
Clarksdale needs to get tough on property owners who don’t keep their property properly mowed.
This is also the season to start demolishing those burned out houses we all see around town.
Our mayor took over management of public works last year and he needs to get to work.
There is a process and procedure and city leaders need to make if policy to clean up Clarksdale this summer.
Where is your pride
I was proud of Clarksdale last weekend.
We can thank the Lord for the weather. People acted properly downtown. I met and made new friends from all over this great country and world.
There will be more festivals this summer and this fall. We need to do our best to clean up this town and make it a safe place for people to come and have a little fun.
We need to do our best to make this a place we are all proud to call home.
