On Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2024, as the birds sang outside Mrs. Frances Madison Smothers’ window at Flowers Manor Retirement Community in Clarksdale, MS, our Lord and Savior took her home to begin her Heavenly life.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 2 p.m. until the service time beginning 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks, with the interment to follow at Lambert Memorial Cemetery in Lambert, MS.
She was a lifetime member of Blue Lake Baptist Church. She loved telling others about her church that she loved so much. She spent several years as the role of Secretary. She enjoyed the outdoors. On a hot sunny day, you could find her mowing her grass, watering her beautiful flowers and weed eating her yard.
Frances received her LPN License at MS. Delta Community College School of Nursing in Clarksdale. She later continued her education at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas where she received her RN License.
For over 30 years, she devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a house supervisor at North West Mississippi Regional Medical Center before retiring.
Toward the end of her journey here on earth, she was cared for by loving sitters, Mae Stringer and Lisa Paden who treated her like their own.
She is survived by her son Billy Smothers, Jr "Chuck"; and daughter, Betty Jean Burton; grandchildren, Shade Burton (Julie), Will Burton (Anna); and seven great grandchildren, Paxton Burton, Payton Burton, Patrick Burton, John Aedon Clark, Lynlee Burton, Eliza Cate Burton and Madison Clare Burton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Pearl Madison, her husband, Billy Smothers, Sr, brothers, Eric Madison Jr, Tom Madison, Robert "Shorty" Madison, son-in-law, Barry Burton and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Smothers.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Shade Burton, Will Burton, Payton Burton, Patrick Burton, Eddie Madison and Harry Whitworth.
