A 23-year-old man has been charged in the armed robbery of a Clarksdale business on Friday night.
Dontereon Badger was taken into custody around midnight Friday in the 100 block of James Washington Street in Friars Point by deputies with the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier that night, around 10, Clarksdale Police were called to the Popeye’s restaurant at 717 State St. regarding an armed robbery. Citizens identified the robbery suspect as Badger, who would be arrested by sheriff’s deputies a few hours later.
Police said Badger had in his possession two firearms (one being reported stolen in Coahoma County) and cash believed to have been stolen from the restaurant.
He was charged with armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm.
Badger is scheduled to appear in Clarksdale Municipal Court on Tuesday, Jan. 29 before Judge Derek Hopson.
