John Craig Amerson, who works in the city of Clarksdale’s public works department was recently recognized as the city’s Employee of the Month for January.
“Craig stepped up to the plate in my absence to handle departmental needs. During this time, he has showed his leadership ability, and dependability, as well as professionalism,” said Todd Jones, the director of the public works department who nominated Amerson for the award.
The Employee of the Month award is a new honor being brough back by the city, as well as its Yards of the Month.
Each commissioner selects a yard from a home in their ward. At the end of the year, the mayor will select an overall winner who will receive a $500 gift card from the True Value in Clarksdale.
The winners for January were:
* Ward One: Carl and Lorna Fuller, 1425 Rose Circle.
* Ward Two: Mr. and Mrs. Levi Nesby, 240 Confederate St.
* Ward Three: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Henderson, 2006 Sunflower Ave.
* Ward Four: Mrs. Frank Howard, 1046 Alana Drive.
