Their music has heart.
Heart to Heart Foundation is bringing three highly touted musicians to Clarksdale this weekend for a concert that is being billed as an East-Meets-West fusion of American Jazz and Indian mandolin and tabla.
Heart to Heart (H2H) Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to saving the lives of children born with congenital heart defects by providing free pediatric cardiac surgeries.
The concert is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at The Pinnacle on the campus of Coahoma Community Col-lege.
The music is free and a meal will be served.
“We want everyone to come out and enjoy this event,” said Ashley Bowen, PeopleShores Tech Center Manager. “We want to celebrate diversity and urge Clarksdale to come together to enjoy an evening of music and fellowship.”
Those slated to play include Uppalapu Rajesh on mandolin, George Brooks on saxophone and Aditya Kalyanpur on tabla – a pair of drums played by hand.
The concert is sponsored by PeopleShores of Clarksdale and the Coahoma County Chamber of Com-merce.
Uppalapu Rajesh is an Indian mandolin player in Carnatic classical music, a music producer and a composer.
His work with John McLaughlin's album Floating Point, received a Grammy nomination in 2009.
