Chris Chicorelli, assistant fire chief with the Clarksdale Fire Department, holds a plaque with a golden ax that was presented to him by the city during Monday’s meeting of the mayor and board of commissioners at City Hall.
At right is Clarksdale Fire Chief Rocky Nabors, who made the presentation.
Chicorelli, who is retiring after 40 years with the fire department, excelled at customer service, Nabors said. ‘He represented the city with class and dignity,’ the fire chief said.
Commissioner Willie Turner, Jr., who worked with Chicorelli for 20 years, said ‘he exemplifies what a true leader is.’
Chicorelli said he was overwhelmed by the presentation and the standing ovation from the room full of fellow firefighters and the public.
‘It’s been a long, good ride. I wouldn’t change a thing,’ he said. ‘It’s been fantastic. I’m going to miss you.’
