The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department rained on an alleged drug dealer Wednesday with at least one arrest and three detained.
Authorities entered a home in the 600 block of Grant Street about 6 p.m. Feb. 12 acting on information they had gathered in an investigation and under the direction of a locally issued warrant.
Those detained stood outside in the rain as investigators talked with one man inside. He was later brought out in handcuffs and whisked away in a patrol car.
Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department public information officer Will Rooker said weather is never a factor in police work and often works to officer’s advantage by putting people in one spot.
“We executed the search warrant, went inside and secured the scene,” said Rooker. “We had no problems. Everything went very smooth.”
Rooker said those arrested would be processed first before revealing names. He said the three detained were being questioned and could possibly be charged.
Rooker said more than a half-dozen officers with the Coahoma Sheriff’s Department and Clarksdale Police Department took part in the bust.
No one was injured – policemen or public – in the raid.
Rooker urged the community to contact the Sheriff’s Department if they have information on this incident or the trafficking of drugs anywhere in Clarksdale or Coahoma County.
