Clarksdale High School will be hosting a football jamboree at Coahoma Community College Friday night and four schools will be participating.
Coahoma Early College High School will play West Bolivar at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Wildcats will play Southaven at 7 p.m. The rules will be just like a regular season football game. The only difference is there will be one half for each game.
Wildcats coach Henry Johnson is looking forward to the scrimmage.
“Southaven is going to be big, fast, strong,” Johnson said. “They’re going to have some weapons everywhere. They like to throw the football. They can run it. They play good, sound defense. We’re going to know who we are after next Friday. We’re going to know who Clarksdale is. We kind of know who
Clarksdale can be from when we played Horn Lake (in the spring), but we’re going to know a little more about the Wildcats after playing Southave. The good thing about it, it doesn’t mean anything.”
The Wildcats and Tigers will be on the same field once again for the season opener at 7 p.m. Aug. 23. They will be facing one another at CCC and the Tigers will be the home team.
